Definition

Under general supervision of the Operations Manager, supervises, monitors use of the community recreational facility operations. Establishes and maintains excellent customer service relations with customers and includes oversite of unlocking/locking of building, fields, working with user groups to ensure the safety and security of the facility. Conducts periodic follow-ups with customers to resolve concerns and complaints and improve customer satisfaction. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt.

Examples of Tasks

1. Responds to inquiries from staff, Community Members, and customers on the status of work orders, schedules, facility permits, and facility questions. Monitors work orders, and in-house projects. Completes incident reports, enforces rules and regulations of facility.

2. Provides general supervision of Security Attendants and Customer Service Assistant's and daily facility operations in the absence of the Operations Manager to ensure efficiency and productivity.

3. Keeps management abreast of issues/concerns, keeps detailed records, prepare and submit reports as needed.

4. Responds and assists in all emergency situations according to facility emergency preparedness plan. Assures fire and safety procedures are adhered to.

5. Occasional patrol of facilities to ensure personal/ property protections.

6. Assists with the registration, scheduling and check in procedures for the Way of Life Facility. Coordinates with various departments for facility use schedules. Processes facility use permits and completes the necessary permit paperwork. Assists with set-up for facility use, insure tables, chairs, facility equipment is properly handled and set-up for use.

7. Maintains master schedule of all activities and events, collecting and disseminating information to staff, Community Members and families utilizing facilities. Answers questions, attends meetings, and resolves issues that may arise regarding schedule and condition of facilities.

8. Answers calls and requests for service from customers. Enters and dispatches work orders to the assigned staff through the work order system. Greets and assists customers over the phone or in person and directs customers to appropriate staff as needed.

9. Manages inventory of supplies and equipment within the facilities. Communicates with facility maintenance staff to coordinate event schedules with building maintenance activities. Verifies that facilities and equipment are in good working order to support events and activities. Works with facility maintenance staff to resolve building maintenance and equipment issues.

10. Conducts customer surveys and/or face-to-face interviews to assess adequacy of the level of customer service provided. Compiles, analyzes and presents results of surveys and trends to management. Provides and submits monthly and quarterly reports. Makes recommendations on ways to improve customer satisfaction.

11. Assists Managers and Supervisors with establishing and maintaining guidelines and procedures and assist with developing goals. Records, reviews, and maintains copies of customer service comments, both verbal and written.

12. Develop and Implement an emergency response plan for safety procedures in an event of an emergency in our outside the facility.

13. Establishes, coordinates and conducts staff training on facility processes and procedures, and on the safety emergency plan.

14. Acts as liaison between Community Members, customers and Tribal departments. Professionally interact with students, staff and public. Ensures that all customers receive efficient and courteous service at all times.

15. Performs other job-related tasks or special assignments as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of the culture, customs traditions, history and government of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, including those associated with confidential/sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of services, programs, policies, and procedures of the Community Recreational Services Department.


  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Tribal employees, SRPMIC members, and the public.
  • Skill in understanding and interpreting complex concepts, rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Skill in using various office equipment and understanding of computer systems and software programs needed to accomplish department goals.


  • Ability to learn established documentation systems and work processes.
  • Ability to write accurate and concise reports.
  • Ability to use personal computer and related software (such as: MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Access) to maintain records and create timely, meaningful reports.
  • Ability to resolve customer issues, concerns and to apply communication/negotiation skills for immediate results.
  • Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures of the SRPMIC government, organization and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with staff, youth, members and the public.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and establish goals.
  • May have to lift and carry 25 pounds.


Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED, and experience equivalent to four (4) years progressively responsible administrative experience in other large public use facility, or closely related field, and two (2) years supervisory experience in a customer service environment. Associates Degree preferred in business administration, public relations, communications or a related field.

  • Work is performed in variety of locations (indoors and outdoors), may require standing prolonged periods of time.


Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.

Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.

Special Requirements

Special Requirements: May be required to work a flexible schedule and outside normal business hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to travel.
